THE PITS is a
crime/action crossover novel about Captain Kramer, USMC who rescues a dog while
on deployment to Afghanistan. Named Shadow by Kramer's Marines, the dog
accompanies Kramer back to Oceanside, California where they become embroiled in
a campaign to oust local gangs. Their actions capture the attention of the FBI
and the two Marines are 'volunteered' to assist the Bureau in an operation that
may prove more dangerous than the war in Afghanistan.
About
the Author: The day Greg Smith was born in Sydney, Australia (1948), there was
a frantic air search for the aircraft his father was flying from Lae, Papua New
Guinea to Sydney. Thankfully, after a week, it and its crew were found safe and
sound, having had to make a forced landing on a island beach. So it was that
Greg's entry into the world was fraught with drama.
He was only weeks old when the family returned to Lae, Papua New Guinea and there he spent the first 5 years growing up among the natives. The family eventually returned to Sydney and Greg developed his artistic skills until they afforded him the opportunity to establish a career for himself as a graphic designer.
With over 30 years experience in the publishing and printing industries, he is now turning his hand to the art of wordsmith -- fiction, historical fiction, thriller, mystery, crime. He lives with his wife, Trish, two border collies - Shadow and Sydney, and one cat, Bugsy, in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
